Women in Engineering (WiE) is an affinity group associated with the Student Branch of the University of Coimbra (SB-UC), aiming to promote the role of women in science, engineering, and technology. Additionally, it seeks to inspire, motivate, and encourage young girls to pursue academic paths and/or careers in these areas, addressing any existing disparity of opportunities between men and women in both the academic community and the business environment.
The WiE of SB-UC aims to create a community of students who share the same ideals, fostering dynamics that emphasize and value the role of women in different STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. This group is open to all students who want to dedicate themselves to this cause, regardless of gender. In this way, we aim to be an inclusive, dynamic, and proactive community in advocating for the ideals we stand for, always promoting debate and the exchange of ideas for the benefit of evolving mindsets.
